History of Guatemala

The history of Guatemala cannot be described in few lines, neither that section represents the true life of today’s people; but we do wish to give you a vague idea about what you can expect on your coming. We present you little information concerning mostly three subjects, one will be call ARCHAEOLOGICAL, it means before the conquest due that the coming of the Spaniards turn the page to the great Mayan civilization, the other COLONIAL, will touch mostly the edification of Antigua, Quetzaltenango and several other places from that period till now in some case, and the last section TODAY, want to be the modern Guatemala, reflect of glory and sorrow…and also a will to progress.

You smell to orange and maize, to sugar cane and coffee,
To brown skin and dance, to cinnamon and tobacco,
To green earth and tropical rain, to prairie and mountain range,
To torrent and gorge, to copal and air
Guatemala you smell the eternal spring, future and freedom...
